TO BE OR NOT TO BE- ENTREPRENEURIAL REVOLUTIONS LAST CALL
The main purpose of our book is to invite you to join the search for jobs creators between 1946 and 2030. We aim to show this is an exceptional era with communications and computing technology doubling every 7 yeras. Thats a moore's law of 2""12- over 4000 times moore. Inspired by the coming moon landing, friends and alumni of The Economists's end poverty sub=-editor started debating Entrepreiurial Revolution's post-industrial innovation in 1968. On this expoenetial time scale- moon landing occurred at around 10 times moore
4000+ times more acceleration of innovation over as short a period as 84 years -ie one primarily involving mutual responsibilities of 3 generations -grandparent, parents, and the youth half of the wprld aged under 30 - for each other)-is unprecedented. It will lead to the best or worst of times.
Best means sustaining 10 billion brilliant livelihoods by 2100. Worst means the extinction of our species will become unstoppable. 2030 is not a precise date for the irreversibility of the connectivity of human trading relations to be so deeply webbed that our impacts on mother earth as well as on each other;s communities and families. Maybe we have to 2037 but we now feel it is msartre to take 2030 deadline for humanity's final examination as to whether we are linking ever more sustainably or towards the 22nd century seeing the last birth of our species. Nor is this a sudden assesment of expoentual opportyunitry and threat. Our 1984 book The 2025 Report celebrated proable timelines to 2025 if sustainability was to be achievable. In 2018 we are way behind the timelines we had hoped elders would be investing -and empowering through education - in youth by now. But as Nations only united around 17 sustainability goals in 2015, we suggest that the era of 1000 to 4000 times moore gives one good last chnace to work on celebrating sustainability out of every place on the planet.
Sadly it seems to us, historians have largely failed to record job creation as their main story. So let's begin with some jobs creators from before 1946. We welcome your views of whose stories we have missed out - we will feature those we learn from thanls to you at www.EconomistRefigee.com where the 17 sustainability goals are also celebrated as stars to navigate round.
From pre 1946 history we have chosen for started to discuss how these job creators impa ted their alumni.
Mahatma Gandhi - who started the 20th century by calling on his peoples on the south asia coastal belt to free themselves from colonisation. We will discuss gandhi's life as a period of four quarters. Interestingly the third quatyer involved his attempts to redesign a total education system before amplifying his people's call for independence
More than a centtury before Gmadhi's birth Scot Adam Smith had started publishing ideas that mapped transparent explorations of ,markets as a better idea that empire and colonisation. Adam's argument was never really understood in his lifetime. By 1843 another Scot James Wilson had started debating Adam Smith with Queen Victoria with the consequence that she decided ruling over a commonwealth constitution was a smarter idea than slave-making Empire - Walter Bagehot took up Victoria's baton as James died before his time in Calcutta 1860. We would argue that female member so the British Royal family have set the benchmark for empowering women hold up half the sky at the extreme heights of social classes around the world. However for royals to turn a juggernaut like British Empire takes a long time- as wise Eastern anthropologists say the king cant chnage until the people change.
Marco Polo remains to this day one the most extraordinary journalist of exploration. Thanks to hiom we know how old world markets reached a peak of sustainability with an extraordinary overland relay between hundreds of neighbouring regions- the marvelous silk road. Never have grade and cultural interdependence been so well webbed. The Western terminal of the silk road was the ed sea coastal belt and included the birth place of golden rule religions. We would point out Francis and the Clares with their love of networking last mile nature and health as benchmarks. Meanwhile the eastern end of the silk road thrived around spiritual movements -there are a lot of ying and yangs to study if you dare to let you mind roam the confucian way
We encourage the main author of each world record jobs creator profile to weave in any family experiences. We believe families are the core dynamic of building both sustainable communities and win-win world trade.
For example our main editor of valuing gandhi is a diaspora scot whose grandfarter was justice in mumbai for 25 years of mediating Gandhi. His grand parents were pharmacists and nurses -eg kemps corner is still a nighborhood in mumbai.
